Obituary for
Peter John William Kerr
Peter Kerr, of Walkerton, passed away at The Village, Hanover, on Friday, February 2, 2018 in his 79th year.
Peter is survived by his wife Carol of 57 years, daughter Susan (Gerald) Hurrle of Tottenham, and son John (Michele) Kerr of Mississauga. He was the proud Grampa of Nicole (Tom) Kerr of Milton, Steven Kerr and Michael Kerr of Mississauga, Jessica Hurrle and Christine Hurrle of Tottenham.
Peter is predeceased by his parents, William and Mildred Kerr of Toronto, and his brother Pat Kerr of Toronto. He was born on September 11, 1938 in Toronto, where he grew up and worked at the family drug store with his father. Peter met his wife, Carol, in a coffee shop on the lower level of the Simpson-Sears department store downtown and immediately fell in love. They were married on September 8, 1961 and honeymooned in Algonquin park. He worked at Oshawa Foods (now Sobeys) for over 30 years. In retirement, Peter and Carol moved to Walkerton, where together they enjoyed small town living.
Peter enjoyed shortwave radio and obtained his Ham operator license. He regularly enjoyed talking to folks from all over the world. He also enjoyed other hobbies and interests that kept him busy, like feeding local birds and collecting glass insulators.
As per Peter's wishes, no services will be held.
